May 19-21, 2008, reconcilers.net, in conjunction the Hands in Healing Reconciliation Team of the Diocese of Los Angeles, will host "Facing Jerusalem: A national reconciliation training focusing on the role of The Episcopal Church in healing conflict in the Middle East ", a training institute to impart the vision, tools and techniques of faith-based reconciliation.

More than a seminar; it will be a supported and facilitated conversation between Episcopalians who share a deep concern for the situation in the Middle East, yet who may disagree sharply about the causes, and the desired  outcome, and strategies for handling this conflict. It will be a workshop for building a shared vision of what we as The Episcopal Church can contribute to the cause of reconciliation in the Middle East, where we can begin developing strategies for bringing healing to this profoundly wounded region.

While we will devote time and discussion to the history of this particular conflict and to the pathology of conflict generally, our primary focus will be on the Abrahamic tradition of faith-based reconciliation, embodied most clearly in Jesus of Nazareth. It is through this lens that we will try to discern the path we are called to follow. This conference will be more concerned with personal transformation than with international diplomacy.
